Our original 1863 Torahs are returning! Delve into the mysteries of Emanu-El’s first treasured Torahs with Soferet Avielah Barclay. Please join us on Wednesday, October 16th at 7 pm as Soferet Avielah Barclay shares the profound discoveries she made while mending our first torahs. How old are they? What is the meaning behind the mysterious dot patterns and special letters? This class will explain why these letters must be written very large, very small or sdrawkcab. This will be a very special evening full of images, questions, answers and sharing.
Special addition to the Evening: At 6:00 pm Avielah’s husband, Marc, will be at the shul to sew to the Torah scroll theatzei chayim, the wooden shafts attached to each end of the scroll used to roll up the parchment and act as handles. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see a scroll actually put together and to ask Marc questions about the process.
